How to Resurface Stainless Steel Appliances

Stainless steel surfaces show the smallest flaws, scratches and damage. Without regular maintenance, stainless steel can deteriorate quickly and develop rust spots and other blemishes. If the surfaces of your stainless steel appliances need restoration, you can extend the life of the finish and return it to a brilliant, shining finish.

  • Soft sponge
  • Clean cloths

      Apply a quarter-size drop of commercial stainless steel cleaner to a soft sponge or cloth. Work gradually in small areas to rub the surface with the cleanser in the direction of the grain. Apply more cleaner as needed to cover the entire surface. Wipe the excess cleaner from the surface with a clean, dry cloth.

      Scrub the surface of the appliance in the direction of the grain, using a nylon pad or similar. The pad will help smooth out the grain, removing blemishes and scratches.

      Apply stainless steel cleaner to a clean, soft cloth. Rub the surface in the direction of the grain to clean any residue from the surface. Buff the surface with a clean, dry cloth, rubbing in the direction of the grain.
