Shut off electricity to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Open the cabinet door under the sink adjacent to the dishwasher, and locate and shut off the water supply valve. The valve is in the hose that enters the cabinet on the dishwasher side. Turn the valve's knob clockwise to stop the water flow.
Empty the dishwasher, and confirm its wash cycle is complete by the absence of water inside the appliance.
Extract the screws in the underside of the cabinet where the dishwasher bracket secures to the bottom of the counter. Pull the dishwasher forward.
Loosen the screws in the clamps on the two hoses connected to the dishwasher. Pull off those hoses, which are the fill and drain hoses. A small amount of water may spill.
Unplug the dishwasher's power cord from the socket in the cabinet next to the dishwasher.
Lay an old towel or blanket on the floor in front of the dishwasher. Tip the dishwasher forward onto the towel or blanket to protect its finish. Turn the appliance to face the bottom. The transformer is a metal box wired between the power cord and the motor.
Loosen the screws holding the two power cord wires to the transformer terminals. Note the position of those wires on the transformer, and pull them off the transformer.
Loosen the screws holding the motor wires to the transformer. Pull off each of those wires.
Remove the mounting screws that hold the transformer to the underside of the dishwasher. Take out that transformer.
Fasten the new transformer in position with the mounting screws. Attach the motor wires to their respective terminals, and reconnect the power cord wires to their screw terminals. Tighten all the screws.
Lift the dishwasher so it is upright. Plug the dishwasher's power cord into the socket in the cabinet next to the dishwasher.
Reconnect the fill and drain hoses to their ports on the dishwasher, and tighten the screw in each hose clamp.
Slide the dishwasher back under the cabinet. Secure the appliance to the underside of the counter with screws through the bracket in the top front edge of the dishwasher.
Restore electricity to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
