How to Replace the Burner Ignitor on a Frigidaire Gas Range

Oven ignitors are attached to each of the oven’s stovetop and interior burners. If one burner or element isn’t working, it is likely because the ignitor attached to it is broken. These are relatively cheap and simple to install with the correct tools. Purchase a replacement ignitor directly from Frigidaire or a generic ignitor of the same size from a hardware or home improvement store.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the oven and let it cool completely. Unplug it.

    • 2

Remove the access drawer underneath the oven or remove the bottom of the oven by prying it up. This will allow you to access the oven ignitor wiring.

    • 3

Unscrew the nut that holds in the old broken ignitor. Untwist the two ignitor wires from the oven. Pay attention to how and where the wires are attached to the oven, as you’ll need to replicate this when installing the new one.

    • 4

Tighten the ignitor to the oven with a wrench. Attach the two ignitor wires to the oven in the same manner as the broken ignitor was attached. It does not matter which wire is attached to which portion of the oven, as polarity is not an issue.

Put the drawer back into the oven and plug it back in.
