How to Repair an Alpine Air Purifier

Alpine air purifiers use electricity pulled directly from a standard wall outlet to keep your air clean by filtering out unwanted pollutants. The air purifier uses two main internal parts to clean the air throughout your entire house, which may stop working entirely over time or suffer a loss in quality due to built-up dirt. Rather than pick up a new purifier, your existing Alpine model can live longer if you perform a few minor repairs.

Things You'll Need

  • Cloth
  • Lint screen
  • Alpine RCI cell

Instructions

    • 1

Tap the "Power" button either on the purifier's remote control or on the front panel of the purifier itself. Locate the power cable on the back of the Alpine purifier. Unplug the cable.

    • 2

Reposition the purifier so the back end with the power cable port is pointing toward you. Manually twist off the two locking thumbscrews at the left and right sides of the purifier's plastic panel. Pull the panel away from the purifier and set it aside.

    • 3

Grip the left and right sides of the rectangle-shaped lint screen positioned inside the Alpine purifier. Pull the screen away from the purifier and set it aside.

    • 4

Locate the black cable at the bottom-right corner of the purifier that connects to the RCI cell in the bay at the top of the purifier. Grip the base of the cable and unplug it from the port. Pull the RCI cell away from the purifier and set it aside.

    • 5

Set your new RCI cell into the bay at the top end of the purifier and slide your replacement lint screen into position beneath the cell. Connect the new cell's cable to the port on the bottom-right corner.
