CPCP Humidifier Instructions

A CPAP humidifier eases breathing and provides good-quality sleep for those suffering from sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea. The humidifier adds moisture to airflow that is directed into a breathing mask placed over the nose and/or mouth of the sleeper. When you acquire your CPAP unit and humidifier, you may have questions about how to set them up and use them.

Instructions

    • 1

Lower the CPAP unit onto the humidifier base. Align the feet of the CPAP unit with the grooves on the humidifier until the unit sits snugly. Insert the humidifier's power cord into the AC-in jack on the back of the CPAP unit. Insert the supplied power cord into the back of the humidifier. Plug the large end of the power cord into an AC power wall or strip outlet. Place the humidifier with the CPAP unit onto a firm surface below the position in which you sleep.

    • 2

Pour water into the detached water chamber and swirl it around. Pour the water out of the chamber, then refill it -- preferably with distilled water -- to the "Fill Line" printed on the outside.

    • 3

Push the heating plate down into the water chamber; slide the chamber onto the heating plate. As you slide the chamber into place, align the inlet port with the air outlet of the CPAP device. Push the flexible tubing onto the mouth of the water chamber outlet port.

    • 4

Push the humidifier button on the CPAP unit to start the heating plate. The humidifying icon will appear on the display; you will typically see a green light illuminate. Allow the heating plate to warm the water before turning on the humidifier. When the water is heated, turn on the airflow.

    • 5

Push and hold the humidifying button on the CPAP unit until you see the humidifier controls appear. Turn the humidifier setting to "2" for a normal humidity output. If more humidity is required, set the humidifier higher. Airflow will activate and begin humidifying the area. Place the CPAP mask, which is connected to the flexible tubing, over your face, if necessary. Enjoy your sleep.

    • 6

Push the humidifier button on the CPAP unit to turn the humidifier heating plate and airflow off. Allow 15 minutes for the water remaining in the chamber to cool. Pull the chamber off of the heating plate by pressing down and sliding it out at the same time. Pour out leftover water, remove the base plate of the chamber and the rubber connector of the inlet port, and allow the chamber to dry.
