Charcoal-activated filters are common in air purifiers that draw air into the filter with a fan motor. Dust particles and other contaminants are trapped on the charcoal surfaces, resulting in cleaner air for your room. Because charcoal filters are expensive, rinsing them occasionally can save money on the cost of operating your air purifier over its lifetime. However, to work effectively, the charcoal must be dry before the filter is reinstalled.
