Cleaning Instructions for an Oreck Air Purifier

Oreck air purifiers feature permanent filters so you never need to worry about the cost of replacement filters. While this will save you money, it also means that you need to occasionally clean the filters to prevent dust and dirt from building up inside and reducing the effectiveness of your air purifier. The Oreck company recommends cleaning the exterior of your air purifier as necessary and cleaning the interior every two to four weeks or when the "Check Collector Cell" light turns red.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Oreck air purifier before you begin cleaning.

    • 2

Wipe the outside of the purifier with a damp rag. If the exterior is extremely dirty, add a small amount of dish soap or another non-abrasive cleaner to the rag. Rinse the rag when you finish cleaning and wipe the purifier again to remove any remaining soap.

    • 3

Press the button located near the bottom of your air purifier and flip the switch above it to the down position. This will unlock the cabinet door on the side of the air purifier.

    • 4

Open the cabinet door to reveal the collector cell. This cell houses the filters inside the air purifier.

    • 5

Twist the two yellow latches located near the top and bottom of the collector cell to the left and pull the cell straight toward you to remove it from the air purifier.

    • 6

Soak the collector cell in warm water for two to three hours to remove all of the dirt and dust inside it. You can add a small amount of mild dish soap to the water if the cell is extremely dirty.

    • 7

Pull the pre-filter up and out of the air purifier. This filter is located underneath the collector cell.

    • 8

Rinse the pre-filter under warm running water until all visible dirt and dust are removed.

    • 9

Place the collector cell and pre-filter on a clean towel until they are completely dry.

    • 10

Remove the odor absorber from the air purifier. This filter is located above the collector cell and can be pulled straight out of the machine.

    • 11

Vacuum the odor absorber and the part of the air purifier directly above where the odor absorber rests with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner.

    • 12

Return the odor absorber and the dry pre-filter and collector cell to your Oreck air purifier and close the cabinet door.
