Troubleshooting a Hunter Air Cleaner

Hunter air purifiers such as the HEPAtech 30836 can suck out unpleasant and unclean air from large or small rooms. However, a few troubleshooting and maintenance steps are essential to improve your unit's performance. Contaminants such as mildew and mold thrive in moist areas, so keeping air healthy should be a top priority. Before calling a repair expert, troubleshoot and repair common problems to improve your unit's efficiency.

Instructions

  1. Replacing The UVC Bulb

    • 1

Unplug your unit from the electrical outlet if it is not turning on. Turn it over so you can see the bottom.

    • 2

Remove the two screws on the UVC cover with a small Phillips screwdriver. Push the tab on the cover and remove it. You should see the UVC bulb carrier. Store the screws safely and move the cover to the side.

    • 3

Rotate the UVC bulb carrier 45 degrees counterclockwise and then lift it off of the unit.

    • 4

Unscrew the UVC bulb from the carrier and dispose of the old bulb. Screw your replacement bulb into the carrier socket. Do not let the bulb touch your skin. Reinsert the bulb carrier and reattach the UVC cover.

    • 5

Clean the outside of your unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive liquids.

    Cleaning your Filter

    • 6

Turn off your air purifier and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.

    • 7

Press the tab on top of the rear grill and remove it. Turn the rear grill over and remove the pre-filter.

    • 8

Inspect the side of the pre-filter that faces the grill. If it is dirty, submerge it in soapy water several times. Rinse the filter in warm water and allow it to dry before reinserting it back on your air purifier.
