Select a location to place the main Humidex unit. The Humidex must be on the lowest level of the home, no farther than 3 inches from the floor. The unit should be placed away from furnaces or other combustive appliances. Make sure the unit is placed in a space that allows the Humidex to have clear air-flow.
Select a hole for the location of the 6.25-inch-wide air duct hole. The location of the hole should be above ground level, and it should not line up with any studs, wires or pipes.
Drill a 1.4-inch pilot hole in the center of the proposed 6.25-inch duct hole from the inside of the building until it goes through the outer wall. Go outside the building and locate the pilot hole. Using the pilot hole as a guide, saw open the hole using a hole saw. If the exterior of your home is made of brick, you can use a hammer drill to open the hole.
Put the two pieces of the Humidex casing together by overlapping the pieces and screwing them together. Seal the back of the unit where the two pieces join together with duct tape. If your ceiling is finished, remove the cap at the top of the unit.
Assemble the flex, beaded pipe and outer vent together. The beaded pipe must be slid through the vent hole from the inside until it sticks out the other side a few inches. Slide the flex onto the beaded pipe and stretch it out, cutting off any excess. Attached the flex to the beaded pipe with tie wrap and then go outside. Attach the outer vent to the beaded pipe and secure the outside vent to the outer wall, using the screws provided.
Attach the Humidex unit to the wall by installing the four plastic anchors and the four screws provided for this purpose.
Set your Humidex fan speed to its highest setting and plug in the unit to start it.
