How to Clean an Ionic Air Cleaner

An ionic air cleaner is a device meant to purify the air in a room or small space. It pulls in air from the surrounding environment, runs it through a filtration system and sends the cleaned air back into the room. Air purifiers may be of particular use in areas with high smog or pollution levels, as well as for people with allergies, sensitivities or respiratory illnesses. Clean an ionic device, such as an Ionic Pro, regularly to help ensure proper performance and consistent purification.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off and unplug the air cleaner. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before cleaning.

    • 2

Pull up on the release lever, located on the middle front of the unit, to release the collection-blade housing. Pull down on the collection-blade housing to remove.

    • 3

Touch the blades to a grounded surface such as a metal pipe or faucet. This will help discharge any remaining electricity.

    • 4

Wipe the collection blades with a damp cloth. Set the collection blades aside to air-dry for several hours.

    • 5

Use a vacuum and brush attachment to carefully clean the filter, located inside the unit behind the collection-blade housing. The filter cannot be removed from the unit but is reachable once the collection blades are removed.

    • 6

Pull up and down on the lever located on the side of the unit to clean the internal wires. The lever scrapes the wires as it moves up and down, removing any dirt and debris.

    • 7

Wipe the exterior of the ionic air cleaner with a damp cloth. Allow to air-dry before reassembling the internal components.
