How to Troubleshoot a Frigidaire ES200/300

The Frigidaire ES200/300 is an electronic air cleaner designed to suction air in from the environment and pass it through a filtration system to remove impurities, bacteria and dirt and then dispense the air back into the home once clean. Individuals with respiratory illnesses, allergies, or sensitivities to pollution or other impurities in the air may benefit from the use of an air cleaner. The Frigidaire unit may be purchased online or in some appliance or department stores. If owners experience problems with the air cleaner, some troubleshooting techniques may help resolve the issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug in the power cord if the Frigidaire air cleaner does not turn on or operate. Set the "On/Off" switch to the desired setting.

    • 2

Set the "On/Off" switch to "Ultra Fresh" if the air cleaner runs too fast. Wait for one minute and then turn the switch to "Normal."

    • 3

Turn off and unplug the air cleaner if the air is not being cleaned properly. Open the front access panel and make sure the plastic bag on the filter was removed prior to installing the filter in the unit.

Clean the filter assembly if the air cleaner is operating poorly or the air quality is not clean. Lift up the top lid and slide out the filter assembly to clean it. Pull out the metal mesh filter from the front of the housing and rinse well with water. Set it aside to dry. Slide out the charcoal filter from the back of the housing and set it aside. The charcoal filter should be replaced every three to six months. Fill a shallow baking dish with very hot water and dishwashing liquid. Carefully set the cleaning cell in the cleaning mixture and allow it to soak for 30 minutes. Carefully agitate the cell in the cleaning mixture and then lift out to rinse. Shake the cell to remove excess water. Reassemble the charcoal filter, cleaning cell and metal filter in the housing and slide back into the air cleaner.
