How Can I Clean Bionaire Filters?

Bionaire air purifiers contain a series of pre-filters and filters that trap airborne particles and odors. Most Bionaire air purifiers contain a foam pre-filter and either a carbon or high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. The carbon and HEPA filters can be replaceable or permanent. Before cleaning, check to see which type of filters your Bionaire uses. Carbon filters and most HEPA filters cannot be cleaned. They should be replaced when necessary. The foam pre-filter and permanent HEPA filters can be cleaned.

Instructions

  1. Foam Pre-Filter

    • 1

Turn off your air purifier and unplug it.

    • 2

Remove the pre-filter by opening the front of your air purifier and removing the pre-filter frame.

    • 3

Hand wash the pre-filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse the filter thoroughly.

    • 4

Dab the pre-filter with a hand towel to remove any excess water. Allow the pre-filter to air dry completely.

    • 5

Place the clean, dry pre-filter in the frame and re-insert it in your air purifier. Wash your pre-filter at least once a month. You can wash it more often, if necessary.

    Permanent HEPA Filter

    • 6

Turn off your air purifier and unplug it.

    • 7

Pull on the tab to remove the grill on the front of your air purifier. Remove the permanent HEPA filter.

    • 8

Attach the brush attachment to your vacuum cleaner. Turn on your vacuum cleaner and use the brush attachment to vacuum both sides of the permanent filter.

    • 9

Re-insert the permanent filter into your air purifier. Clean your permanent filter once every three months, or more frequently if necessary.
