How to Fix Dehumidifier Frost on a Frigidaire FDL50S1

While the Frigidaire FDL50S1 may suck in harmful air that can cause health problems, it may fail to operate properly if it isn't set up and maintained well. This 50-pint dehumidifier sucks humidity that may cause molds and other harmful spores. When your dehumidifier runs, frost appears on the coils because refrigerant is rushing through them. While this is a normal occurrence, it may be necessary to inspect and troubleshoot your device if the frost doesn't disappear within a set time.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Power" button to turn on your Frigidaire FDL50S1 dehumidifier.

    • 2

Inspect the coils above the water bucket or drip tray. You should see frost. This is a normal, due to refrigerant rushing through the coils. Wait at least 60 minutes for the frost to disappear.

    • 3

Move your dehumidifier to a room that's at least 41 degrees Fahrenheit if the coils won't unfreeze. Your Frigidaire FDL50S1 dehumidifier won't work as efficiently at lower temperatures.
