In order to work, air flows from the central air or heating system into the Infinity air purifier. Particles in the air become charged and get stuck onto the filter, which has the opposite electric charge. The electrified filter of the system then kills any microbes in the filter with an electric current. Regular replacement of the filter will keep the system running smoothly.
The filter will need to be replaced when it becomes filled with dust. Not replacing the filter regularly will result in clogs and cause the system to fail to work properly. Using the optional Infinity control provides information on the control display about when to replace the filter. Without this control display, replace the filter every eight to 12 months, or when the filter gets completely covered with dust. The timeframe will depend on the amount of dust in the air in your home.
Black marks, especially around the edges of the filter could indicate a problem with the filter's installation. If the filter is installed backward, your filter will have black char marks around the edges. Shut off the power to the air purifier and remove the filter cartridge. Replace the damaged filter with a new one, and check that the arrows on the filter are pointed toward the direction of the airflow through the system. Do not forget to turn the power back on to the system.
If you leave the filter in place too long without changing it, or if you live in a dusty house, the filter could become discolored, indicating that it needs replacement. Remove the old filter and replace it with a new filter. Note the date you installed the new filter so you do not go longer than one year between filter changes.
