Check the environment in which the humidifier will be used. Compare this with the specifications outlined for the humidifier.
Keep doors and windows closed when the humidifier is in use. Check the room size specifications provided in the instructions, as the room may be twice the square footage intended for use.
Unplug the humidifier, wait and then plug it in again. This will often serve as a reboot for the humidifier. Be leery of performing major repairs on humidifiers that may cause the warranty to become null and void for future problems.
Lubricate the motor bearings with a few drops of motor oil. The motor oil may also be applied in small amounts to the actual motor of the humidifier. This will quiet a loud humidifier after wear and tear has caused the motor to dry out and squeak.
Look for loose parts. Nuts and bolts as well as small fans may shake apart in a humidifier. Take the panel off the motor and lightly tug at any loose parts. Take a small tool to lightly tighten.
Remove excess water from humidifier pan. Water that becomes stagnate may draw insects. Do this regularly to avoid future problems.
