If you've ever had an aromatherapy session, you know that essential oils can help relieve stress. A good recipe uses lemon, eucalyptus and bergamot oils. Mix 2 drops of lemon, 1 drop of eucalyptus and and 6 drops of bergamot. Mix these in a 1/2 oz. of water, and put the mixture into a spray bottle. If you want a stronger scent, you can double the amount of oils you put in, or reduce the amount of water. Mix and match with proportions until you get your perfect scent.
If you look around your kitchen, you'll see many herbs and spices that can be used to make air fresheners. Cinnamon, basil, rosemary, vanilla, ginger, clove and more all offer sweet scents. Make an air-freshener pouch by mixing a combination of your favorite herbs and spices and tying them into a cloth. Place the pouches in the corners of your room.
Place a few drops of your favorite essential oil on the inside of the toilet paper roll, and your entire bathroom will take on a fresh smell. Drop a few drops on some cotton balls and place anywhere that needs a lift--your car, your closet, even your trash can. Try lavender, bergamot or almond for your closet and cinnamon, eucalyptus or clove for your garage. Orange, cinnamon and peppermint seem to work well in cupboards. Your laundry room will smell good with some lavender, almond or peppermint. And bergamot, orange and peppermint are strong enough to keep your attic and your basement smelling inviting.
If you want to freshen up the air in your kitchen, cook a fruit concoction that will clean your pots at the same time. Cut up slices of grapefruit, oranges and lemons and drop them into a pot. Cover the fruit with water and let the mixture simmer for an hour.
