Hunter Air Cleaner Instructions

Hunter's line of air cleaners are designed to purify a room's atmosphere by cycling the air through a HEPA filter. The assembly process for these cleaners is very straightforward and should take only a matter of minutes. Once ready for use, operation consists of adjusting a dial and toggling the unit's built-in ionizer.
  1. Assembly

    • To assemble your Hunter air cleaner, you will first need to remove the front grill. Some models have buttons on the side of the grill that you must press prior to removal, others allow you to remove the grill by simply hooking your fingers into tabs located along the edge and pulling. Once the grill is off, insert the filter into the device with the wire mesh side facing away from you (the white side should be visible after installation). Replace the grill and plug the humidifier into a nearby 120V electrical outlet.

    Operation

    • The control panel located on top of the air cleaner features two dials, a button and a power light. The button is used to toggle the device's ionizer on and off; the power light next to the button indicates whether the ionizer is currently active. The dial labeled with the initials of each month is used to keep track of when to replace the air cleaner's filter and prefilter. To set the filter counter, rotate the outer edge of the dial until the month you first installed the filter is aligned with the upper "REPLACE" marking; the lower "REPLACE" marking will indicate the month in which you should install a replacement filter. To set the prefilter counter, turn the inner knob until it lines up with the month you installed the prefiler; the "REPLACE" marking on the knob will indicate when to install a replacement prefilter.

The second dial is used to turn the device on and adjust the speed setting. The air cleaner features four speed settings: off, low, medium and high.

    Maintenance

    • When the calendar dials indicate that it is time for maintenance, turn off the device, unplug the power cord and remove the front grill. Examine the filter and compare it to the chart located on the interior of the device. If the color of the filter matches that of the color indicated on the chart, replace the filter (you may purchase replacement filters directly from the manufacturer). Clean the case and grill with a damp cloth; if necessary, you may clean the grill with soap and water. Afterward, replace the filter, prefilter and grill.
