How to Clean a Trion Console Electronic Air Cleaner 250

Many people strive to make their homes and offices comfortable, welcoming spaces, but stale air can ruin that impression almost immediately. Smoking, lack of ventilation and other factors can contribute to stale or foul-smelling air. Some people turn to air filters to improve the air quality in these spaces. Trion's Console 250 Air Cleaner resembles a small cabinet, and can help to truly clear the air. However, this machine can only properly clean the air if the system itself is clean.

Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the front grill of the Trion air cleaner with the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. Done weekly, this basic cleaning can help to maintain the Trion's ability to filter the air.

    • 2

Dust the exterior of the Trion cabinet with the same cleaning methods you use for your tables and chairs. Furniture cleaner will help the cabinet maintain its appearance.

    • 3

Turn off the Trion air cleaner and unplug it from the electrical outlet. To avoid injury, ensure that no electricity is flowing into the machine during cleaning.

    • 4

Lift the top panel off of the Trion air cleaner to access the interior electronic cell; this cell should be cleaned at least once per month to ensure proper filtering.

    • 5

Reach into the cabinet and pull up the handle on top of the electronic cell. Pull the cell from its place in the cabinet and rest it on a drop cloth or other cleaning area. Do not place it directly on the carpet, as your cleaning efforts may transfer dirt from the cell onto other nearby surfaces.

    • 6

Remove the pre-filter, located at the front of the electronic cell, and the charcoal filter, located at the back of the cell. Slide these filters out of their places. Set the charcoal filter aside; this should not be cleaned.

    • 7

Rinse the pre-filter under a stream of clean, warm water. Leave this piece aside to dry while you continue.

    • 8

Mix hot water and dish soap in a sink, bathtub or other container large enough to hold the electronic cell. Submerge the cell in this mixture and allow it to soak for 30 minutes.

    • 9

Agitate the cell within the water to clean the surface thoroughly. Rinse the cell in warm water to remove residual soap; the plates may change color when wet.

    • 10

Shake out as much water as possible from the cell. When the cell is mostly dry, replace the pre-filter and the charcoal filter and reassemble the air cleaner.
