Instructions for Use for a Holmes Air Purifer Model 240

Holmes is an American company that offers portable fans, heaters and air purifiers for your home. The Holmes Model 240 Odor Grabber has multiple settings that can help you control odors near litter boxes, pet cages and beds, or any other area in your home that has an odor problem. The filter in the Holmes purifier fights odors with three different absorbents. Baking soda is used to absorb organic odors, while carbon helps you fight gaseous odors. Zeolite helps with acidic odors.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the purifier vertically on a sturdy, level surface such as a table. Grip the sides of the air intake grille and pull it straight up. Set the grille aside. Slide the filter element out of the machine. Remove the plastic film covering from the filter and put it aside. Place the filter and the grille back into the purifier.

    • 2

Place the purifier in a horizontal position on a table or other raised surface at least one foot away from the wall. Keep the machine out of reach of children and pets.

    • 3

Plug the power cord into a wall outlet. Slide the speed selector switch to "LO," "MEDIUM" or "HI." This will illuminate the power indicator light.

    • 4

Slide the ionizer switch to "ON" to release negative ions into the air. This aids in the capture of particles or smoke.

    • 5

Turn the purifier to the "HI" setting if you wish to operate the appliance continuously. Use the "LO" setting for less noise if you use your purifier in a bedroom.

    • 6

Turn the unit off and unplug it. Remove the air intake grille (see Step 1) and wash it in dishwashing soap and water. Dry the grille thoroughly before reinstalling it. Clean the outside of the unit with a damp cloth.

    • 7

Remove the filter element (see Step 1) and place it back in the plastic film covering when the purifier is not in use. The filter will continue to absorb odors even when the machine is off. Remember to remove the plastic film before you turn on the machine again.

    • 8

Replace the filter element every three to six months. Remove the grille and the filter element and discard. Remove the plastic film covering from a new filter element. Keep the film to place the filter element into when the machine is not in use. Slide the element into the machine and replace the grille.
