How to Run an AC Unit From a Battery

Portable air conditioners are often used to cool single rooms or small outbuildings. However, some buildings have no electrical service. If you want to use an air conditioner unit in such a building you need a portable power source. If you wish to use a lead-acid battery you must convert the DC output power from the battery into AC power. You can use a power inverter to accomplish that task.

Things You'll Need

  • 1,500-watt or larger power inverter
  • Lead-acid battery
  • Portable air conditioning unit
