Look at the power cord to the GE air conditioner and plug it firmly into an electrical outlet if the machine is not working. Replace or reset the fuse or circuit breaker as needed.
Move curtains, furniture or other items that may block air flow if the air conditioner is not heating or cooling as expected. Turn the thermostat control to a colder or hotter setting and keep windows and doors closed during use. Set the fan switch to "Cont" instead of "Cycle" for constant operation.
Clean the air filter if the air conditioner is running poorly. Turn off and unplug the GE air conditioner and pull the filter out of the front access panel. Clean with a vacuum cleaner or wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry and slide it back into the air conditioner.
Melt ice that has developed on the cooling coils by setting the selector switch to "High Fan" or "High Cool" and the thermostat to "1" or "2." Turn the air conditioner down or off at night when the air cools to help prevent this condition.
