Open the cap on the drain line located near the air handler inside the home. Most air handlers have a clean-out fitting for servicing the drain line.
Insert the hose from a can of compressed air into the drain opening and wrap a rag around it to seal the opening and prevent the condensation from escaping into the home.
Blow the compressed air through the drain line until it drains freely.
Fill a garden sprayer with a cup of bleach and warm water. Pump up the garden sprayer to its maximum pressure.
Place a drop cloth over any carpeted areas to protect them from the bleach. Insert the end of the sprayer hose into the drain line opening located by the air handler and seal it by tightly wrapping a rag around the opening.
Inject the bleach solution into the line until the drain flows freely.
Use a wet/dry vacuum to free up the material clogging the drain line. Open the clean-out fitting located by the air handler inside the home.
Attach the vacuum hose to the end of the drain line located on the outside of the home. Seal the connection with a rag for maximum suction.
Vacuum the drain line to remove algae and other debris until the drain line flows freely.
