How to Troubleshoot a Bryant Outdoor Central AC Unit

Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems is a company which produces a series of air conditioning (AC) units, including the Evolution, Legacy and Preferred Compact models. The company uses Puron refrigerant, an environmentally friendly refrigerant approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In a climate of environmental awareness, this is a major selling point -- but the "green" credentials of the product will mean nothing if your Bryant outdoor central AC unit is malfunctioning.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the thermostat on your unit to "Cool" if you find that no cool air is coming from the AC vents. Ensure the thermostat is set to a lower temperature than the room's air temperature; otherwise, it will automatically turn off.

    • 2

Open the battery compartment at the back of the Bryant air conditioner if you see a "Low battery" warning. Replace the battery in order to get the unit working again.

    • 3

Remove any debris which may have settled around the base of the central AC unit. Water can congregate around the base pump and the inside of the unit will gather water. Clearing the base pump will evacuate the water from the unit.

    • 4

Check the fan switch on your thermostat is switched to "On" if the unit is on but the vents are not blowing air. Switch it on in order to circulate the air into your room.

    • 5

Remove the air filters from the filter compartment of the air conditioning unit and clean them of any dust or debris which may be blocking the flow of air. Blockages caused by dirt and dust can cause the machine to cease operation and overheat, so cleaning the filters is an important process.
