Turn off the power to your central AC unit. Turn off the circuit breaker that it's connected to.
Find the condenser coil you're changing or the evaporator coil that you're replacing with a condenser coil. This element is most likely located in the central AC unit's main cabinet.
Open the access door of the AC unit's cabinet. In some systems, this can require removing clamps or screws.
Remove the coil you're replacing. Check the unit's manual to be sure of the exact location as it can vary. Cut the ends with a tube cutter.
Install the new coil. Connect again by soldering the lines with a propane torch. Some new coils can be purchased that require only heating, which means you will not have to apply solder to connect the coil.
