Why Is My Frigidaire AC/Heat Not Working?

Some Frigidaire air conditioning units feature a built-in heater, as well as an air cooling component. At times, you might experience issues with the unit losing power, not blowing cool/warm air or not cooling/warming a room. Each of these problems can be fixed with minor adjustments.
  1. Power

    • If the Frigidaire air conditioner or heating function fails to turn on at all, the power source might have been compromised due to an electrical surge. Locate the breaker box within your home and inspect the breaker assigned to the area of the house that includes the AC outlet. If the breaker has been tripped or is anywhere but in the "On" position, flip the breaker switch to the "On" position. Unplug the unit, allow three minutes to pass, and then plug the air conditioner back in. Push the "Reset" button on the plug and give it another try.

    Fan Speed

    • If you're unable to adjust the heat or AC fan speed, your AC might be set to a mode, which only allows the fan speed to be set to "Auto." Modes such as "Auto," "Dry," "Turbo," or "Sleep" only have one mode, thus a fan speed change from the front panel or the remote control will be ineffective during these modes. The same is true for air flow settings during these modes.

    Timer

    • If you've set the timer on the unit, on purpose or accidentally, and the timer reaches its end, the unit shuts off automatically. Inspect the timer settings to ensure that the timer is not active. Press the "Timer" button on the remote control or look for the timer icon on the front panel of the Frigidaire to determine if the timer is set. If the timer is on, turn it off by selecting "Timer Off" on the remote control. This will prevent the timer from turning off the unit.

    Leakage

    • If there are any leaks in the room, such as open doors, open windows or floor vents, the cold or hot air flowing through the unit into the room will escape, preventing air regulation of the room. Seal off all possible openings within the room and turn the AC on high.
