How to Change the Fan Speed on a Rheem Air Conditioner

Rheem air conditioners help maintain a comfortable temperature in your home at the height of summer, saving you from sweating out the weather with a fan alone. Rheem air conditioners distribute cool air through your hose using a series of vents -- turning up the fan increases the speed at which air exits the vents and enters your home. A higher fan speed cools a warm room faster without turning up the air conditioning.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the thermostat in your home -- it is a plastic unit with dials and switches used to regulate your heating and cooling.

    • 2

Adjust the switch marked "Fan" to "Auto" or "On." The "On" setting keeps the fan running indefinitely while "Auto" fan mode only operates when the temperature rises above a certain setting.

    • 3

Touch the fan icon or the word "Fan" on the display if your Rheem air conditioner has a digital thermostat. Fan speed options appear on the display, letting you adjust the fan speed or set the times when the fan runs.
