Purpose of a Window Wall Mounted Air Conditioner

Temporary Installation

• You can remove a window air conditioner unit during winter climates to allow better use of the windows when the air conditioner isn't in use. You may also remove the window unit from its current window and mount it in another room window, home or office. The air conditioner mounts in the window with a few simple screws and sealant strips. Simply unscrew the screws, remove the strips, unplug the unit and carry it to the next location.

Cooling Feature

• Generally, you install a window air conditioner during warm summer months, primarily to cool the air. The air conditioner features a controller interface or remote control, which allows you to switch on the cooling component or lower the temperature. Typically, repeated presses of the "Mode" button on the window unit cause the unit to cycle through different modes, including "Heat," "Fan" and "Cool." "Cool" mode causes the unit's internal compressor to activate, which then powers the cooling coils. Room temperature air enters the unit through the front grille, cycles through the unit and then exits the louvers or vents as cold air.

Internal Vent

• If you wish to use the air conditioner to expel stagnant air within the room, you can open the air conditioner's vent. The vent opens by hand and the vent's controller is typically in close proximity to the vents in some models. The vent opens with slight pressure to the vent lever. Outside air can enter through the vent and inside air can exit through the vent. You can operate the "Fan" function while the vent is open to circulate the inside air out of the unit. You reach "Fan" mode with multiple presses to the "Mode" button, until you reach "Fan." The "Fan Speed" button allows you to set the desired fan speed.

Heating Feature

• Some units feature a heating component, so you might not need to remove the air conditioner during the winter. You could use the unit year-round. "Heat" mode is reached when you press through the "Mode" button, located on the unit interface or remote control. You can press the up or down directional buttons on the remote control or front panel to raise or lower the thermostat to the target temperature respectively.
