Pull down the unit's front grille and gently remove it from the unit. Grasp the air filter at the top and lift it out of the unit.
Insert a screwdriver into the screws on the front panel, which should be on the left and right side of the unit interior, and unscrew them. Remove the metal cabinet from the front along with the front panel and unplug the electronics plug between the front panel and the interior, if one exists.
Remove the screws that hold the air conditioner frame onto the unit, using a screwdriver. The screws are on the left, top and right side of the frame. Slide the unit out of the frame and put it aside. This task might require two people.
Place the top guard or rail onto the top front of the frame and the two side retainer rails, which are shorter than the top rail, onto the sides of the unit. Line up the screw holes from the rails to the frame, insert the supplied screws from the inside of the unit into the rails and screw them in with a screwdriver.
Slide the accordion panels into the tops of the side retainer rails so the left and right panels fit on the left and right sides of the frame.
Insert the frame into the open window where you wish to install the unit. Slide the frame back so the cabinet bracket on the bottom of the frame sits in the window's outer sill. Slide the window down behind the top rail to prevent the frame from falling out of the window.
Line up the screw holes on the front bottom part of the frame interior to the inside windowsill. Insert two screws into the holes and use the screwdriver to turn the screws into the frame.
Reach down into the bottom of the hollow frame and place the two support brackets under both sides of the bottom of the frame. Line up the screw holes, insert the supplied screws inside the frame into the brackets and screw them in with the screwdriver.
Extend the two accordion panels on either side of the frame to cover the opening on the right and left side of the window frame between the windowsill and the sash. Drill a starter hole into the window frame through the holes on the panels. Insert the supplied screws into the edges of the panels and screw them into the window frame starter holes.
Insert two L brackets on either side of the top of the open window. Line up the holes of the brackets to the right and left sides of the window frame and drill starter holes into each side of the window frame through the bracket holes. Insert the supplied screws into the holes of the L brackets and screw them to the window frame to lock the window into place.
Slide the air conditioner unit back into the frame, reconnect the plug between the interior and the front panel and turn the screws back into the front panel. Reinsert the front panel back onto the interior, replace the metal cabinet, replace the filter and replace the grille.
