Tilt the air conditioner so the back of the unit is slanted about 1/4-inch downward. This will allow most of the water to drain outside through the rear of the unit. Ensure the back of the air conditioner is at least 10 inches from the building to prevent water from draining into your windowsill.
Pull out the drain cap, located on the front lower right corner of the air conditioner. This will provide access to the base pan, which holds excess water that accumulates in humid weather.
Insert the drain pipe that came with the air conditioner into the hole you removed the drain cap from. As you insert the drain pipe, firmly push down and then in to snap it into place. It will be a tight fit to prevent any leaking.
Attach an air conditioner drain hose by placing it around the drain pipe, and place the other end of the hose in a bucket. Excess water in the base pan will drain through the hose into the bucket.
