A Samsung “Reset” button for the ice maker is located in different areas, depending on the refrigerator model. For instance, some reset switches are located on the upper side of the ice maker unit while others are located on the lower side of the ice maker. To reach both buttons, the ice bucket cover must be pulled open. The button could be located on the upper side, the lower side or in the front of the component. For exact location, refer to your Samsung owner’s manual.
Once the “Reset” button is pressed, the Samsung refrigerator ice maker doesn’t make ice right away. The system might require the passage of 24 hours before the unit makes ice. Samsung specifies that the ice maker will make ice at least before 24 hours passes from the press of the “Reset” button, but the ice maker may produce some ice before the 24-hour mark. Some Samsung ice maker “Reset” buttons should be held for eight or more seconds.
The Samsung ice maker “Reset” button might be working correctly, but the ice maker can’t reach the minimum temperature to make ice if the freezer door is ajar. Cold air can escape from the freezer in several ways, such as too much food in the compartment or a dirty or bad seal. If you open the freezer door and see that the seal is dirty, a soapy mixture and a clean cloth can be used to remove the grime. Torn or damaged seals should be replaced immediately. If the door fails to close flush to the unit, food or other items might be too bulbous to allow the door to close fully. Move things around until the door closes fully.
When an ice maker is reset or the refrigerator is first turned on, air might exist within the water lines, which prevents the ice maker from making water. To expel the air from the water lines, you can place a cup or a jug underneath the Samsung water dispenser on the front of the unit and allow a gallon of water to flow from the unit. Once the water is flushed through the lines, the ice maker is ready to make ice. You may want to reset the ice maker again at this point and allow 24 hours for the maker to produce ice.
