Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the circuit or remove the fuse that connects to the Trane XE60 furnace/air conditioner.

    • 2

Disconnect the wiring to the old motor using a pliers. The motor is located in the bottom section of the XE60. Untwist the twist caps if necessary, or cut the existing wires using a wire cutter. Remove the motor. A GE1375 rpm 1/2 hp motor is standard in the XE60.

    • 3

Install the replacement motor. Secure it by attaching the bolts, using a pliers.

    • 4

Attach a capacitor to the brown striped wire on the new XE60 motor using solder and a soldering iron, then solder a solid brown wire to the remaining free end of the capacitor. Twist together a length of jumper wire from the brown striped wire to the common wire to feed it to the motor.

    • 5

Secure the wire connections with plastic caps or using straight crimp connectors. Follow these color matches: blue-purple on the Trane XE60, red to red, green to chassis/ground.
Yellow and black wires are not used.
