How to Identify a Carrier Rooftop Air Conditioner

Carrier is an HVAC company that specializes in heaters and air conditioning units. The company also manufactured rooftop air-conditioning units for recreational vehicles until December 2009. Each Carrier rooftop air-conditioning unit came with a two-year warranty, even if it was purchased after the company stopped producing the model. Every unit has a Carrier logo on it, but the logo is made of plastic and is only attached to the unit with glue. You can identify a Carrier rooftop air conditioner even if the Carrier logo is missing.

Instructions

    • 1

Climb onto the top of your RV using the RV ladder or another ladder.

    • 2

Examine the air-conditioning unit on the top of your RV. The unit will be located in the middle of your RV’s roof. It will be between 1 and 3 feet long and about 1 foot wide. It may bulge up to 1 foot tall, or it may only be 4 to 6 inches tall, depending on the model.

    • 3

Locate the logo on the air-conditioning unit. If the logo is blue and says “Carrier” in white letters, it’s a Carrier air conditioner. If the logo is missing, look for an oblong oval indent in the plastic on the side of the unit where the logo used to be located.

    • 4

Locate the model number of the air-conditioning unit. The model number will be next to the oval indentation on the unit where the logo was before it fell off. Write the number down.

    • 5

Input the number into the Carrier product manual website (see Resources) to find a matching manual and click “Search.” If a manual shows up, the unit is a Carrier model. If the product number does not correspond to a Carrier air-conditioning unit, a manual will not show up on the website.
