How to Clean a Friedrich Wall Unit

Your Friedrich wall unit air conditioner is a lifesaver in warm weather. When outside temperatures get too high, you can create a cool haven in your home by switching on the unit. You can even set a timer to ensure you're met by a wall of cool air at the end of your hot, early evening commute from work on public transportation. You wouldn't want the cooling unit to fail in the middle of a heat wave, so keep your Friedrich wall unit clean.

Instructions

    • 1

Incorporate your Friedrich wall unit into your regular cleaning routine. Put the dusting attachment on your vacuum cleaner's wand and remove dust from all of its surfaces. Pay particular attention to the intake grille on the front and the discharge grille above it so dust isn't ingested into the mechanism or blown back out into the room. To remove more ingrained dirt, wipe surfaces with a cleaning rag wrung out in hot, soapy water.

    • 2

Clean the unit's filter at least once a month. To gain access to it, take off the intake grille. Hold the grille at its front left and right corners, then pull it out until it's freed from the top holders. Once it's hanging down, lift it up to free it from the bottom holders. Grasp the filter and pull it toward you away from the unit.

Fill your sink with hot water and add mild household detergent. Wash and rinse the filter thoroughly. To remove excess water, squeeze it gently and shake until dry. Place the filter back on its support hangers on the Friedrich wall unit.

Position the front grille back on the unit. Hang it from the bottom holders and swing it up until it snaps into position on the top holders.
