How to Work a Two-Stage Thermostat

A two-stage heating system is capable of maintaining a constant temperature in your home by automatically adjusting how much heat your furnace puts out. To properly operate a two-stage heater, you must understand how to adjust the system's settings using the digital thermostat. Through the thermostat, you configure a temperature setting, adjust fan speeds, and change heating options, allowing you to keep a consistent, comfortable home environment.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Set" button. This will cause the thermostat to display the current "Set" temperature level, which is the temperature your heater tries to maintain.

    • 2

Press the up and down arrows to adjust the "Set" temperature. After several seconds of inactivity, the thermostat will change to "Room" temperature, which is the current temperature in the room.

    • 3

Press the "Fan" control switch to the "Auto" or "On" settings. This will designate whether the fan is always running, or turned on by the heating system when necessary.

    • 4

Set the system fan speed by selecting "Hi" or "Low" using the "Fan Speed" control switch.

    • 5

Choose to run the heater or air conditioning system by changing the "Thermostat" control switch to "Cool" or "Heat."
