Painting With Crackle Medium

Crackling is the newest trend in painting and gives you the ability to make your walls and furniture an old fashioned look with little effort. Instructions

    • 1

Paint your walls or furniture with a latex satin wall base using a roller. Choose a color light enough for the crackle medium to cover while still being visible. Let it dry overnight. Put down a drop cloth under your furniture and along the edge of the floor before beginning.

    • 2

Tape off any parts of the wall or furniture you do not want the crackle medium to touch. Using your paintbrush, apply one coat of crackle medium to the area. For walls and larger areas use a roller. Let it dry for about one hour.

    • 3

Paint over the crackle medium after it has dried with your original paint color. Use a paintbrush for larger cracks or use a natural sea sponge for smaller, hairline cracks. The paint will begin to crackle immediately.
