How to Make a Popsicle Chair

Save money on expensive dollhouse furniture by making your own. Popsicle sticks are just the right size for making play furniture. They are sturdy, but still easy to bend, and are the right shape for creating indoor and outdoor pieces for dolls or models. Popsicle sticks are ideal for making chairs of many shapes and sizes. Ask the kids to join in the fun, creating their own designs for their dolls and decorating the chairs to their tastes.

Instructions

    • 1

Take four Popsicle sticks and place them together to form a hollow square. Glue the ends of the sticks with the glue gun to keep them securely in place.

    • 2

Glue a Popsicle stick to the front of one of the four corners of the square to create a chair leg. Measure the stick with a ruler before gluing to be sure that 1 3/4 inches of the stick is sticking out above the square. Repeat this step on the other three corners of the square.

    • 3

Attach a Popsicle stick to the stick that makes the back left leg. Attach another stick to the back right leg of the chair. Glue a stick across the top of the two previously attached sticks, connecting the sticks and creating the back of the chair.

    • 4

Glue five Popsicle sticks from the top of the back of the chair, continuing until you reach the bottom of the back of the chair. Glue the pieces close together, leaving no space between them. Hold the pieces firmly in place until dry.

    • 5

Glue five Popsicle sticks onto the seat of the chair one at a time, covering the hollow opening. Glue the sticks close together, leaving space in between them.

    • 6

Paint or stain the chair to match the decor of the dollhouse or model. Add jewels or glitter for that extra sparkle in a girl's room.
