Instructions

  1. Nightstand Construction

    • 1

Measure, mark and cut five pieces of 3/4-inch plywood so that they measure 16 inches wide and 24 inches long. These are the sides, top, bottom and middle shelf of your nightstand. Measure, mark and cut two pieces of 3/4-inch plywood so that they measure 25 1/2 inches wide and 24 inches long. This is the front and back of your nightstand.

    • 2

Lay the bottom of the nightstand on a flat surface. Lay two side pieces along the 16-inch sides of the bottom. The 24-inch long edges should be in an upright position. Secure the sides to the bottom using 1-inch wood screws at all four intersecting corners.

    • 3

Lay the top of the nightstand on a flat surface. Turn the piece created in Step 2 upside down so the top fits snugly between the sides. Secure the top to the sides using 1-inch wood screws at all four intersecting corners. Turn the nightstand right side up.

    • 4

Measure 15 inches from the top of the bottom of the nightstand. Mark the measurement on both sides. Slide the middle shelf between the sides of the nightstand directly above the measurements. Secure the middle shelf into place using 1-inch wood screws at all four intersecting corners.

    • 5

Center the back of the nightstand against the bottom, top and sides. Align all of the edges. Secure the back to the nightstand using 1-inch wood screws placed at all four corners.

    • 6

Measure 2 inches from the top and bottom of the front of the nightstand. The measurements should be made on the left side. Secure a hinge at each of the measurements using 1/2-inch wood screws. The hinges should open to the left.

    • 7

Center the front of the nightstand against the bottom, top and sides. Align all of the edges. Secure the front to the nightstand using 1/2-inch wood screws passed through the holes in the hinges. The hinges should be secured on the interior of the front on the left side.

    Mirroring Process

    • 8

Measure and mark three pieces of mirror so that they measure 16 inches wide and 24 inches long. These pieces will be used on the sides and top of your nightstand. Measure and mark two pieces of mirror so that they measure 25 1/2 inches wide and 24 inches long. These pieces will be used on the front and back of your nightstand.

    • 9

Wet the cutting wheel on the glass cutter with water. Line the metal yardstick along the first cut line. Apply downward pressure on the cutter and pull the glass cutter along the length of the mark. Repeat this process on all of the marked lines until all the pieces are cut. Tap gently along the cut lines using the balled edge of the glass cutter to separate the pieces from each other.

    • 10

Load the silicone caulk into the caulking gun. Run a bead of caulk around the edges of one side. Run beads of caulk diagonally between the corners. Center the appropriate mirrored piece along the side. Press the side against the glue beads and hold in place until the glue cools and hardens. Repeat this process on the remaining side as well a the front, back and top of the nightstand.

    • 11

Dab a small amount of caulk in the area where you want the cabinet knot installed. Push the cabinet knot gently onto the caulk and push firmly onto the surface. Scrape away any excess caulk with a razor blade after the caulk has dried.

    • 12

Clean the mirrored surface with a glass cleaner and paper towel to remove finger prints.
