Decide what you want the final product to look like. If you have more of a rustic feel to your room, you won't want a brushed stainless-steel mirror addition. Choose whether you want to continue the lines of the existing dresser or to add flair that may not be there now.
Measure your dresser carefully to know what you're working with. You'll refer to these figures a lot through the project, so make sure they are fairly precise. Measure the length of the dresser, then determine how wide you want the mirror to be. Pull the tape measure up toward your ceiling and determine how high you want the mirror to be.
Draw up some blueprints so you know where the new mirrored dresser is going. Give yourself a little time to live with the design. If you still like the design after a few days, it will likely fit well with the rest of your furniture.
Cut all the pieces of wood to size to match the blueprint. You'll want the wood to match the other wood used on the dresser or be able to stain it appropriately. Have the mirror cut at the home improvement store to save you time and money on glass-cutting equipment.
Assemble the pieces without screws or glue to make sure everything fits together properly while you still have time to fix it. If everything checks out, go ahead and screw everything together.
Finish the mirror addition by sanding it smooth. You can then paint or stain it to match the dresser. Last, attach the mirror in addition to your dresser and enjoy.
Screw metal joists to the back of the mirror along the wood. Attach those joists to the dresser with screws.
