Decide what measurements the wooden stool is going to have. The most common shapes are circular or square. After measuring, you can purchase a variety of wood for your stool, such as oak, beech, cherry, bamboo and maple, to name a few.
Drill holes into the four corners of the underside of the wooden base that will be the stool's seat. Use the chisel on the top of the hole on the inside to make it just large enough to insert the screw head.
Chisel each screw head until secure on all four corners on the underside of the seat. Make sure the sharp point of the screw is poking out just enough from the hole so you can secure the stool legs to each one.
Take each piece of wood that will be the legs and drill halfway down into the top of the leg where you will insert it onto the already attached screws in the bottom of the seat.
Use the wood glue and squirt a couple drops inside the stool bench holes around the screw head. Do this one at a time. As you attach the leg to the screws, slowly and carefully insert the emerged screw into the hole on the top of the leg.
Screw in each leg securely and tightly until it is pressed against the bottom of the bench. Wipe away excess wood glue. Stand the wooden stool up on the legs, and let the stool dry.
Sand the wood if desired or necessary. Varnish or stain the exposed wood, if desired.
