Instructions

    • 1

Place the 24-by-96-by- ¾-inch plywood on the worktable. Measure from one end and make marks at 24, 24 ¾, 48, 48 ¾, 72 and 72 ¾ inches. Place the framing square on the marks and draw lines across the width of the plywood.

    • 2

Drill four pilot holes between the lines across the width of the plywood. The first and the last ones should be 1-inch from the edges.

    • 3

Place the five pieces of 24-by-30-by-¾-inch plywood on the worktable. Make a mark from the 24-inch edge at 4 inches and from 30-inch edge at ¾-inch. This is for the 96-by-4-by-¾-inch nailing strip.

    • 4

Apply glue to the 24-inch edge opposite the notch that was cut in Step 3, place them between the lines and on either end of the 96-inch plywood and secure them with the 1½-inch drywall screws. Next, set the 96-by-4-by-¾-inch nailing strip on the notches and secure it to the dividers.

    • 5

Place the two 96-inch 2-by-4s on the worktable along with the 16-inch 2-by-4s. Secure the 16-inch 2-by-4s between the 96-inch 2-by-4s with the 3-inch drywall screws, spacing them out evenly.

    • 6

Place the 2-by-4 assembly from Step 5 on the floor and against the wall to which the shop cabinets will be installed. Secure it to the wall with the 3-inch drywall screws, place the plywood assembly (Steps 1 through 4) on the 2-by-4 assembly and secure it to the 2-by-4s with the 1½-inch drywall screws.

    • 7

Place the remaining 24-by-96-by-¾-inch plywood on top of the cabinet and secure it to the dividers with the 1½-inch drywall screws.
