Make the table legs. The legs will be plain 2-by-4 pieces of wood. Cut the the 2-by-4s to the desired leg length and the legs are finished. Make sure to use a square to mark all cuts for the table. This will insure that the cuts are straight and 90 degrees.
Construct the table frame. One can make this table square or rectangular. Decide the dimensions of the table and make sure that the parallel sides are equal to each other. measure the four 2-by-4s and cut them to there appropriate sizes. Two of the sides of the frame need to have rabbets. Cut rabbets in two boards that are parallel to each other. To make the rabbets, mark a line on the boards 1.5 inches from the ends and use the circular saw make a series of cuts, half way through the board, starting from the lines and going to the edge of the boards. Then use the hammer to knock out the loosely connected pieces of wood. Next, use the chisel to smooth out the bottom of the rabbets.
Put the table legs and frame together. Place the table legs into the rabbets and butt the non rabbeted pieces of the frame against the table legs. Use bar clamps to hold them all together. Then use a drill to insert screws through the rabbet into the table leg. Then use the drill to create holes through the table leg into the table frame. Put wood glue on the wooden dowel then insert them into the holes created for them using the hammer. Once the dowels are placed, use the chisel to make the ends of the dowels flush with the table legs.
Cut and place the table top. This is the final and simplest step. Cut plywood the the appropriate demolitions. It should have a few inches of overhang past the table frame. Once the table top is cut, simply use the wood glue to glue it onto the table frame.
