Instructions

    • 1

Spray paint the wicker basket and doll rocking chair legs white. Make sure to do this in a well ventilated place. Allow to fully dry before proceeding to the next step (24 to 48 hours).

    • 2

Attach the legs to the wicker basket. To do this, drill guide holes in all four of the legs using your power drill. Place a washer on each screw. Then drill each 8 inch wood screw through one of the 1X2 wood blocks. Line those blocks up inside the basket so they are on top of where rocker legs will meet the basket. Drill the screws through the basket and into the legs so that they are tightly attached.

Line the basket with the pillow. Put a thin layer of hot glue on the inside edges of bottom of the basket and on the wood blocks holding the legs in place. Push the pillow down into the basket with your hands. It is likely the pillow is bigger than the basket bottom, that is okay, as you want the pillow to pad the sides of the basket, as well.

Tuck in the flannel lining. Cut the fabric so it's approximately the same size as the top of the basket. This cutout does not need to be exact. It is actually advisable to make a little larger than you need. Put a little hot glue onto the pillow and press the center of the fabric down onto it to hold it in in place. Then, neatly tuck and gather the edges of the fabric around the inside, top edge of the basket, hot gluing it into place as you go.

Test your rocker before putting baby into it to ensure that it is balanced and the fabric is secure. Make adjustments as necessary, then rock-a-bye baby and enjoy your DIY cradle.
