Measure your project for the exact size the foam piece needs to be. If you are using a thick material or batting to cover the foam for your project, factor the thickness of the batting or material when deciding where to place your cutting lines on the foam.
Lubricate the knife with the cooking spray. According to the book, "Upholstery Techniques Illustrated," lubrication will make it easier for the blade to smoothly cut the foam.
Mark your cutting line on the foam rubber using the ruler and marker. Cut along the marked lines using the electric knife.
