Wooden Stool Projects

Wooden stools will add a decorative accent to any home or children's play area. There are many ways to decorate a stool that can be tailored to its purpose. Consider painting a floral design to use the stool as a plant stand or a farming color scheme for stools kept in the milk house. Wooden stools can be picked up at stores that carry unfinished wooden crafts.
  1. Bar Stool Projects

    • Create a welcoming atmosphere with custom painted bar stools for any restaurant or bar establishment. This is an opportunity to involve employees and put their creativity to work designing the bar stools of the future. Paint wooden stools with colors and images that reflect the theme of the restaurant or the atmosphere of the town. Landmarks, food items, staff names and popular images such as an American flag can be added to increase the wow factor for future customers. Finish each stool with a coat of clear varnish so that they are ready to be used. Wooden stools can also be donated to local schools and auctioned off to raise money for fundraisers.

    Classic Wooden Stools

    • Increase the visual appearance of a kitchen, breakfast bar or personal liquor bar, by staining a wooden stool. Rustic looking stools can be a great fit for any home and add additional seating while taking up minimal space. Choose the preferred color of stain to match your home decor. Paint each stool using slow, steady lines that are in the direction of the wood grain. Once the stain is dry, add a second coat if it is not a deep enough shade. Then complete the project by applying a clear varnish. Allow the stool to dry completely, according to the varnish directions, before using.

    Children's Wooden Stools

    • Create a fun atmosphere for a child's play room with bright colors painted on wooden stools. Involve your child in the process, whether you choose to paint the stool a single color such as green or yellow or allow them to paint their own mural on the top of the stool. The top can also be used to create a game board for games such as backgammon, checkers, chess and tic-tac-toe. Simply use a ruler to measure out adequate spaces and draw necessary lines for the game board. Consider attaching a zipper locking bag with game pieces to the bottom of the stool so that they are readily available for your child to play with.
