How to Make Your Own Locker Organizers & Shelves

Lockers can get extremely messy during the school year, especially when students only have so much time to change books in between classes. Instead of keeping their lockers organized, many students resort to throwing their materials in their lockers without taking the time to place things in the right place. With locker shelves and organizers, you can clean up your locker, and make it easier to find things during the rush between classes.

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil

Instructions

  1. Shelves

    • 1

Measure the inside of your locker with a ruler or tape measure. You'll want to measure from the inside of the door to the back of the locker, as well as from side to side. Write this number down.

    • 2

Cut two pieces of wood to half an inch smaller than the dimensions of your locker. This will ensure they will fit inside, without any issues.

    • 3

Cut your dowels about a foot tall. You can cut them to two feet tall if you have a full-size locker.

    • 4

Place Super Glue on the top and bottom of your dowels. Lay one of the pieces of wood on the floor and stick the dowels down on the four corners of the wood.

    • 5

Let dry for a few moments, holding it down to adhere. Place the other piece of wood on top of the dowels.

    • 6

      Place in your locker.

    Organizers

    • 7

Take a pencil and draw a 45-degree angle from the top center of the cereal box to about two to three inches above the bottom on the side. Repeat on the opposite side, being careful that the two mirror one another.

    • 8

Cut along the pencil lines, then cut out the side of the box where the lines end.

    • 9

Paint your cereal box any way you wish. You also can decorate it with rhinestones, stickers or glitter.

    • 10

      Let dry, as directed.

    • 11

Place in your locker with the open side toward you. Put papers and notebooks in the cereal box. Make as many as you like. To keep better organized, use each cereal box for a separate subject.
