How to Build a Taekwondo Belt Rack

Taekwondo is a form of traditional Korean martial arts that trains a person both mentally and physically. Tae means "fists" and Kwon means "feet," implying that Taekwondo teaches the correct use of fists and feet to train a person to defend herself. There are nine belts in Taekwondo, starting from white and ending in black, which denotes mastery of this art form. A Taekwondo belt rack is a useful accessory for a Taekwondo enthusiast, giving him the opportunity to display his hard-earned belts, while he gains expertise in martial arts.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut ten pieces from the MDF wood, measuring to ensure they are 20 inches in length and four inches in width.

    • 2

Cut a 20 inches wide by 40 inches long piece of wood for the back of the belt rack. Glue two pieces of wood, 40 inches long and four inches wide on both sides of the back piece to form a frame-like structure.

    • 3

Drill four holes in each of the 20-inch by 4-inch pieces of wood, making sure they are at least four inches towards the inside.

    • 4

Glue the drilled planks of wood to the frame, maintaining a distance of at least two inches between each piece.

    • 5

Tie the elastic bands or ties to the wood planks on each side. Use glue to secure them tightly, if desired.

    • 6

Paint the belt rack as desired, in colors of the Taekwondo belt system or in one single color. Allow it to dry completely.

    • 7

Hang Taekwondo belts by inserting the ends into the wire ties or rubber bands and folding them over so that they sit taut and straight.
