How to Stain a Vanity

Staining your vanity helps bring out the natural color of the wood. The process of staining a vanity is surprisingly simple, and the materials that you will need can be easily found and purchased at a hardware shops. If you have never stained wood before, you should find a stain that is lighter in color. This way you can ensure that the stain will not be too dark on the wood. You can just apply several coats to get the wood your desired shade.

  • Screwdriver
  • Lint-free cloths
  • Small tarp
  • Paper
  • Painting tape
  • Paintbrush
  • Light color stain
  • Paint solvent

Instructions

      Unscrew all metal hardware pieces on the vanity with a screwdriver. Dust the vanity off thoroughly with the lint free cloths.

      Tape the paper to the mirror with the painting tape. Unfold the tarp and place the vanity on top of it.

      Apply the first coat of stain over the entire surface of the vanity with the paintbrush. Allow the stain to dry for five hours.

      Consult the instructions that came with the paint solvent and follow them to clean off your paintbrush.

      Repeat the application of stain as needed to get your desired shade.

      Apply varnish over the entire surface of the vanity after you have attained your desired stain shade. Allow the varnish to dry for five hours.
