How to Create Cardboard Chairs

Cardboard has a multitude of uses. Its original intent of being used to transport goods is its most common use, but it provides the ability to create very unique furniture. On its own cardboard is flimsy, but when stacked and layered, it provides enough support for the human body. There are countless ways to create a chair.

Instructions

  1. Prepping the Chair

    • 1

      Measure 5 inches wide and 13 inches long on a large piece of cardboard. With a pencil, mark off the measurements. Repeat 20 times -- 10 for each armrest of the chair.

      Measure 31 inches in width and 50 inches in length. Mark with the pencil where the measurements are. Repeat 15 times for the base of the chair.

      Measure 21 inches in width and 21 inches in length. Mark the measurements with the pencil. Repeat 15 times for the back support of the chair.

      Cut out the all the measured pieces of cardboard with the X-ACTO knife.

    Making the Chair

      Glue the arm pieces, back support and base pieces together. Lay them flat and give them adequate drying time.

      Place the base of the chair on the floor. Take the back support of the chair and line it up against the back of the base. Glue the back support to the base.

      On the right side of the base of the chair, line up one of the armrests. Glue the armrest to the base of the chair and to the back support. Repeat for the left side.

      Allow adequate time for the glue to dry on the chair.

      Place the chair in its new home in the house.
