Instructions

    • 1

Cut open the pepper fruit with a sharp knife.

    • 2

Remove the seeds inside the fruit.

    • 3

Place the seeds in a fine meshed sieve, and rinse to remove any fruit pulp that may be adhering to the seed.

    • 4

Dry the seeds immediately by spreading them out onto a non-porous surface such as a plastic or glass dish. Make sure that the seeds are located in a well ventilated area, and that they are not exposed to sunlight. Dry for several hours or until the seeds feel dry to the touch.

    • 5

Store the seeds in a paper envelope in a cool, dry, and dark place for up to five years. The ideal place to store the seeds is in a refrigerator.

    • 6

Plant the seeds in potting mix indoors approximately eight weeks before the frost free date for your area. They should be placed at a depth of 1/4 inch and covered lightly with soil.

    • 7

Water thoroughly and keep the soil moist.

    • 8

Place them in a south facing window. Keep the seedlings at a temperature of at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The seedlings will germinate in seven to 14 days.

    • 9

Transplant the seedlings outdoors two weeks after the danger of frost has passed.
