     Till the surface of the soil 6 to 12 inches deep to increase the surface area of the soil and allow more soil to come in contact with the manure.

     Spread a thick layer of well-decayed manure over the surface of the soil. Manure is rich in elements that will change the chemical composition of your soil. The added organic matter will also create a habitat of organisms that will fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil further modifying its chemistry.
